Devin and Cali did it right..their planning leading up to their wedding day, their future leading up to their marriage, and their lives, leading up to many more years of bliss and happiness together. Here is a classic story book tale of two lovers…planning their lives individually such as their careers, having time apart that required focus on what they both were trying to accomplish through their respective colleges, and then bringing it all together on their wedding day at The Wellers Wedding Venue, in Saline, MI.
Imagine the excitement when Henry Ford came to the small rural village of Saline to restore the dilapidated Schuyler flour mill. People thought he had totally lost his mind!!
But, like all entrepreneurs, Ford had his own unique vision: to merge urban factories with rural farming through a little-known and unused crop, the soybean. To implement his wild idea, he paid over 700 farmers in the Saline area to grow soybeans. The farmers then trucked their crops here to be refined into soybean oil for the production of plastics and paints for auto manufacturing.
This simple idea forever changed the face of industry and farming. In fact, soybeans are once again on the front burner as a possible source and solution for our energy problems. Ford was drawn here because of its location on a river.
He produced electricity by diverting the river to create a dam-millpond, and installed a waterwheel. Engineers still marvel at the beauty of Ford’s futuristic dream and he is known throughout the industrial world for his innovative use of organic products in industry.
When Carl & Iris Weller purchased this property in 1966, the buildings & property were in total disrepair. But the Ford remnants unearthed in the buildings, the 10-acre setting and the underlying natural beauty of the buildings, sparked a flame that still burns bright in the family today. With the combined efforts of Judy & Wendy Weller, and scores of hardworking friends & employees, 40 years of effort resurrected this mesmerizing page in history. Their story is a testament to American hard work and ingenuity.
Cali was bride who was meticulous on detail. She also was patient enough to allow you to see what she was trying to envision. Prep and getting ready at The Wellers was a awesome experience. They have a seperate House that is included with the venue that is large enough to accommodate up to 10-12 brides’ maid’s. Devin and Cali had a traditional Christian Ceremony. The ceremony section at The Wellers is to die for. A long archway of greenery and flowers atop leading to the mini amphitheatre for the ceremony, all tastefully decorated in a Greek Cosmetic structure with statues and fountains and water…2 separate halls to accommodate large weddings, and an outside pavilion for dancing.
If your a bride and reading this..don’t think twice about having videography for your wedding…budget this and you won’t be sorry. Both Cali and Devin were huge fans of family pics and we worked with her photographer to make sure we were capturing those moments. Just last month, Cali’s grandmother passed away…and had we not shot video at her wedding, there would be no memory of her in that format on her wedding day. I have talked to numerous brides over the past 7 years…and have told them all that video is a vital part of your wedding. Not just any video, but a seasoned professional who knows the possibilities, challenges, and the future emotions of “what if”..and incorporates all of that into the feel and mood of the video.
After their wedding, both Devin and Cali received some really blessed news regarding their careers. First, Devin was offered a Assistant Coach Position with the DETROIT LIONS, and Cali is the Head Assistant Gymnastics Coach at U of M !! Blessed and in favor, we are very proud and humbled at the same time to have been a part of their wedding.
